About The Position

Primary Objective: This position offers a unique opportunity to shape a new program that integrates hospitality, business, and education, while fostering community within the school. The cafe manager will oversee the daily operations of the brand-new café located in Whitefield Academy’s Learning Commons. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming environment that reflects the Academy’s mission, while efficiently and effectively managing food and beverage service, as well as supervising student helpers and interns. Key Responsibilities: Operations Management Oversee daily café operation, including opening/closing procedures, inventory, ordering, and cash handling. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food service regulations. Develop menus and product offerings that align with student and faculty needs. Student Partnership & Mentorship Train, supervise, and mentor student helpers and interns, instilling responsibility, teamwork, and customer service skills. Collaborate with the entrepreneurship class to provide hands-on learning opportunities. Encourage students to apply classroom concepts in real-world café operations. Customer Experience Create a warm, Christ-centered atmosphere that fosters community. Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Gather feedback and adjust offerings to meet the needs of the school community. Financial & Administrative Oversight Manage budgets, track sales, and monitor profitability. Maintain accurate record of transactions, inventory, and staffing. Report regularly to school leadership on café performance and student engagement. Other Responsibilities Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. Demonstrate stewardship of Whitefield resources and spaces. Adhere to the bylaws, policies and procedures, and to all laws that govern the school and its actions. Other responsibilities as assigned by administration.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or retail management preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to mentor and work effectively with high school students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Whitefield Academy’s Christ-centered mission and values.
  • Flexibility to work an 11-month schedule aligned with the school calendar.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
