The Chassis Solutions Division of ZF North America offers application specific solutions for a variety of different automotive Steering, Braking, Suspension and Chassis Components. Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive CAE / product simulation experience
  • 1 to 5 years of CAE experience with codes such as Adams (or other MBD software), Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS, HyperMesh.
  • Familiar with 3D CAD solid modeling codes such as: CATIA, NX, Pro/E, Solid Works.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct MBD & FEA CAE simulations of Brake systems to evaluate design performance against known thermal, structural, NVH, fatigue, and related engineering targets and specifications.
  • Participate in root cause investigations using CAE and NVH studies to identify and implement improvements and resolve issues.
  • Improve system designs by numerical optimization and robustness investigation using parametric models.
  • Correlate simulated results to physical tests using Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) and Frequency Response Function (FRF) measurement, which includes model, boundary conditions, material property, and load updates to achieve validated CAE NVH/Structural models (1D and 3D).
  • Develop and maintain timing of CAE and system simulation tasks to support program milestones.
  • Perform basic computational engineering analyses (structural, thermal, performance, etc.) of brake systems.
  • Develop new analysis/simulation processes and techniques to support new customer requirements.
  • Participate in product testing (ODS and FRF) to validate and correlate simulation results.
  • Use CAE to investigate and evaluate new design and product technologies.
  • Support product development projects related to customer concerns and cost reductions.
  • Draw conclusions from analyses performed and write formal reports.
  • Prepare and give presentations on analyses performed.
  • Identify new simulation software, procedures and process and possible applications to brake system design and development.
  • Participate in the global CAE community to develop new CAE analysis tools and standards.
  • Work closely with offshore BCL colleagues to develop models and run analyses.
