About The Position
The Cadre Worker 1 position at Youth Challenge Academy (YCA) Ft. Eisenhower is designed to support the Georgia Youth Challenge Program (GaYCP), which aims to provide education, leadership, character development, and life-coping skills to at-risk youth aged 16-18. The program operates in a quasi-military environment that mirrors U.S. Army basic training, fostering discipline, self-control, and motivation among cadets. Staff members serve as mentors and role models, guiding cadets through a structured program that emphasizes academic excellence, life coping skills, job skills training, responsible citizenship, leader/followership, health and hygiene, physical fitness, and community service. Cadre Workers are responsible for supervising and training youth in physical training, character development, and general education. They assist in monitoring, training, disciplining, and supervising cadets, ensuring a safe and clean environment while providing non-professional counseling services and on-site crisis intervention. Documentation of student progress is essential, as is encouraging cadets to enhance their motivation. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and maintaining a valid driver's license is mandatory. The position may be filled for both full-time and part-time openings, with pay varying based on experience and performance standards. The GaYCP has a strong track record, having graduated over 18,000 cadets since its inception in 1993. The program not only focuses on academic goals but also on enhancing personal strengths and resiliency, preparing graduates for post-secondary education, vocational training, full-time employment, or military enlistment. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of these young individuals, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in life.
