About The Position
Attend classes and maintain comprehensive notebooks of subjects covered in classes Prepare research papers Complete homework assignments Participate in the physical training program, firearms training program, defensive tactics program and practical problems Participate in classroom discussions and group projects Complies with assignments and instructions given by the RPA as well as the Dallas ISD Police Department Chief of Police or designee Adhere to all NCTCOG RPA rules and regulations; Dallas ISD policies and procedures, Dallas ISD Police Department policies and procedures, and the Dallas ISD Police Department General Orders - Code of Conduct Occasionally drive or operate Dallas ISD vehicles Perform all other task and duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A equivalency, at least 12 college hours required)
- Must meet minimum Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) hiring standards and licensure requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen of the United States at time of hire
- Must meet minimum admission standards for the NCTCOG Regional Police Academy Basic Police Officer Training Course
- Must successfully complete all phases of the departmental selection process prior to attending the NCTCOG Regional Police Academy's Basic Peace Officer Certification Program
- Must possess a valid Texas driver license
- Must meet all licensing requirements of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Educations (TCLEOSE) at the time of hire
- Must successfully complete an intensive background investigation
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
- Ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs
- Ability to assess hazardous situations and determine appropriate course of action
- Ability to operate a district vehicle and be eligible for coverage by district's insurance carrier
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working and community relations
- Ability to work well with youth and adults
- Ability to adhere to district and departmental grooming standards
