About The Position

The Design Services CAD Technician is responsible for creating, maintaining and coordinating design information using computer aided design (CAD). Effectively communicates with the Director of Design Services, internal construction project managers, clinical user groups, engineers, field staff, technical staff, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and contractors. Provides internal and external coordination and collaboration with project partners and stakeholders. This position reports to the Director of Design Services and collaborates closely with the Construction Services and Facilities departments. This position uses AutoCAD and CAD software, transforming concepts and specifications into precise technical drawings that serve as contract documents for construction, production, and infrastructure development. The position requires attention to detail and is expected to function effectively with direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 10 years of experience in technical drafting, construction planning, or architectural design.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, Building Information Modeling (BIM), or other drafting tools to create precise, detailed, and fully coordinated electronic plans.
  • Ability to coordinate with teams, manage deadlines, and ensure project efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of structural, mechanical, and civil engineering principles to ensure accurate drafting. Understands drawing formats, and all phases of design including schematic design, detailed design and construction documents. Understands how to clearly communicate all drawing information through plan views, elevations, sections and 3D renderings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and engineering drawings with precision.
  • Keen eye for accuracy, ensuring all measurements and details align with project requirements.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and drafting standards to ensure compliance.
  • Effective collaboration with engineers, architects, and project managers to streamline design processes.
  • Ensures all electronic design information and files are properly saved and organized providing the organization a record for future reference and coordination. Ensures all As-built information is kept up to date and properly filed for future reference and coordination.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
