As we expand our Construction Technology Group – with the goal of building the best heavy civil construction technology team in the world – we are seeking a highly skilled CAD Technician to join us on this journey of innovation. This role is a key part of our technology leadership, shaping how we leverage digital modeling across all our heavy civil projects. The Heavy Civil - CAD Technician will be the champion of our digital modeling and CAD efforts company-wide. In this position, you will oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed construction models for large-scale heavy civil projects (such as highways, bridges, earthworks, and utilities). You will work with a team of CAD technicians/modelers and collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to ensure our models are accurate, up-to-date, and optimized for field use. As the CAD Technician, you will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and project management skills. You’ll be hands-on with state-of-the-art software (Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, SketchUp, and more), while also developing standards and workflows that streamline our processes. This role involves guiding the team in building 3D surfaces and utility models, integrating survey data, supporting BIM initiatives, and delivering models that drive GPS machine control and layout in the field.
