About The Position

The CAD Technician Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting all aspects related to servicing projects with the primary responsibilities include supporting Tiffany & Co. clients with top-level solutions for jewelry repairs and alterations. The CAD Technician Intern has the ability to support the construction and servicing of our luxury jewelry products. They will have experience working in platinum and gold with all varieties of gemstones. The CAD Technician Intern is responsible for working with others to support projects from conception to the end when project goals are met teams through 3D modeling, prototyping, and digital design. Working alongside craft team. Location: This position will be based out of our office in Queens, NY. Salary: Compensation for this internship will be $25 per hour Key Accountabilities The primary function of the CAD Technician Intern is to support the file creation for components needed to support servicing and new sale alteration orders The CAD Technician Intern will collaborate with TSC team on product functionality and technical design elements including form, style, details and materials Partner with craft team to understand project goal and provide timely and innovative CAD solutions to complex mechanical problems to support servicing orders Design rapid prototyping, 3D printing / wax model Scan stones for one of a kind project Ensure ALL models created are in keeping with modeling best practices and manufacturing standards (e.g., closed solid objects, minimal object density, model/structure organization, etc.) Create & maintain the CAD product details library included but not limited to: CAD files, Specs, Rendering Knowledge and development: Develop deep Tiffany & Co. product knowledge, including but not limited to, designers, collections, materials, methods of manufacture and repair techniques. Proactively seek and apply new skills and techniques that result in quality, or productivity improvements. Establish and monitor individual time-lines and ensure adherence to overall project timelines. Identify and communicate potential barriers to meeting completion timelines as soon as they arise. Communicate effectively to keep management and team updated on project status, issues, and concerns. Connect with casting team on technical details such as sprue location, metal fineness, shrinkage factors etc. Occupational health and safety: Comply with all health and safety requirements including personal protective equipment, hazardous material handling and disposal, machine guarding, ergonomics, etc. Maintain a safe workstation free from risks. Immediately report any safety incidents, including "near misses" to management Service Center support: Provide assistance as needed throughout the center; perform alternate craft work as needed and as capable; assist administration with workflow management; participate in special projects.

Requirements

  • Degree or enrolled (or certificate/diploma) in Jewelry Design, Jewelry Arts, Industrial or Fashion Design, or Engineering
  • CAD experience
  • Experienced with Rhino, Modo, SolidWorks, T-Splines, Z-Brush, Adobe CS, KeyShot, V-Ray, Maxwell
  • Manufacturing knowledge of jewelry and/or other related industries
  • Demonstrated English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with multiple staff levels.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills and partnership skills.
  • Working well within a team environment is a must.
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and willing to change responsibilities within the department as needed by the business
