The CAD Operator will be responsible for updating and creating standard and moderately complex items, drawings, and documentation to support engineering development for fabricated, assembled, and purchased parts. The incumbent will utilize CAD and other necessary equipment to develop accurate and complete designs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Graphics, Engineering Design, or related field
  • 1+ years of related work experience or training

Nice To Haves

  • Basic fundamentals of 3D modeling (SolidWorks, ProEngineer, or other)
  • Understanding of how CAD models are built
  • Understand design content
  • A good understanding of data management or PLM is preferred.
  • Possess good working knowledge of the Windows platform and understands basic windows commands and has a good understanding of windows file system.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as, Engineering Change Request, Red lines, ANSI standards, operating and maintenance instructions, Corporate rules and regulations as well as departmental procedures.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as trigonometry, geometry, algebra and basic equations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to task for determination of area, percentages, volume and tolerance build up. Ability to read measuring instruments to calculate overall dimensions fit and build-up.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Abiility to effectively prioritize projects and meet deadines

Responsibilities

  • Make standard changes to engineering drawings.
  • Complete CAD work as directed by engineer or another designer.
  • Complete fairly basic designs and drawings.
  • May participate as secondary CAD person on advanced projects as experience is gained.
