Walker White Mechanical is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Operator to support our growing mechanical contracting team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role provides hands-on involvement in drafting and coordinating commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for a wide range of construction projects. Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of CAD drafting experience in construction, engineering, or mechanical contracting
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system layouts
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows, coordination processes, and fabrication standards
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sheet metal or piping layout
  • Knowledge of prefabrication practices
  • Understanding of mechanical codes and construction field procedures

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
  • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks for layout coordination and clash detection
  • Interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to develop precise MEP plans
  • Draft ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts for installation and fabrication
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and engineers to create constructible designs
  • Update, revise, and maintain drawings throughout all phases of the project
  • Support BIM coordination efforts and assist with model integration on large-scale projects
