How You'll Succeed as a CAD Manager As a CAD Manager, you protect quality while enabling scale. In this role, you'll:
Requirements
- 7+ years of CAD drafting experience in HVAC, mechanical, or construction environments.
- 2+ years leading or supervising a CAD team.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and discipline-specific CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction documents and shop drawings.
- Experience supporting schedule-driven construction projects.
- Proven ability to manage standards and quality control.
- Strong communication skills with project managers, engineers, and field teams.
Nice To Haves
- Technical school, associate degree, or formal CAD training.
- Industry certifications related to CAD or BIM.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily CAD operations and balance team workloads.
- Hold short team check-ins to align priorities and surface issues.
- Coordinate weekly with project managers to match schedules.
- Maintain and enforce CAD standards and templates.
- Review drawings before release to eliminate rework.
- Track CAD hours and flag schedule risks early.
- Remove technical and workflow bottlenecks.
- Train, coach, and develop CAD staff.
