About The Position

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for a CAD Intern for summer 2026 to be located in Lancaster, PA. Reporting to the Construction Services Manager, the CAD Intern will be providing solutions to internal and external customers through creating drawings to address complex installation and product issues utilizing two-dimensional and three-dimensional design software. Additionally, the CAD Intern will provide practical contributions in the skillful translation of design layouts into detailed drawings and perform take-offs as required in the development of projects from inception through order. We are looking for candidates that are energetic, technically savvy and highly motivated to succeed in our team environment. This is a paid internship. Start and end dates are flexible, depending on school requirements.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be going into their senior year working towards an architecture, design or related degree from an accredited four year college or university OR in their final year of a CAD, architectural technology or related degree from a two-year college
  • Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, cumulative and within major
  • AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe platform, Graphic or product design background
  • Must be highly organized, a self- starter, with outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
  • Unlimited authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, produce 3D drawings, and Inventor experience
  • Interest in design & architecture

Responsibilities

  • Completing Shop Drawings in 2D and sometimes 3D that require little or no modifications to our typical suspension systems
  • Proactively creating and maintaining CAD library drawing files with little supervision
  • Creating drawings and details to accompany bid documents, installation instructions, brochures, and web-based applications for custom and standard products as needed
  • Providing drawings and details to customers under direct supervision and review by management
  • Inspecting drawings submitted by newer employees for adherence to drafting standards
  • Recognizing problems or issues with customer submitted drawings and clarifies requirements before completing drawings
  • Building relationships with internal and external customers, including Contractors and Architects
