About The Position
The CAD & GPS Specialist position at Kinas Excavating involves a blend of technical skills and practical experience in the field of construction and surveying. The ideal candidate will be responsible for utilizing Trimble Business Center and Carlson Takeoff Software to create and manage CAD files that are essential for machine control in various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of GPS technology, particularly with the Trimble GPS Rover, to set up job sites accurately and efficiently. The specialist will be tasked with finding lot pins, sewer and water stubs, and setting top of wall and footing heights for proposed projects, ensuring that all measurements are precise and in accordance with project specifications. In addition to technical skills, the CAD & GPS Specialist will design site-specific CAD files from blueprints, export these designs to machines, and conduct field checks to verify that the designs are implemented correctly. Troubleshooting machine control issues with GPS technology is also a critical part of the role, requiring problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to ensure that projects run smoothly. Project estimating is another key responsibility, where the specialist will provide CAD file takeoffs for bids, including yardage and gravel quantities, which are vital for accurate project budgeting and planning.
