About The Position

Parsons is seeking an amazingly talented CAD Detailer/Designer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of projects throughout Ohio and surrounding regions alongside our Cincinnati and Akron teams. This role is ideally suited for someone who is looking to grow or advance their career in bridge detailing and design. In this role you will develop working drawings from specifications, engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings for bridges, ensuring that they meet company and industry standards and codes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; 2 year degree/certificate is preferred
  • Prior relevant infrastructure and/or transportation design experience required (2+ years)
  • Experience in Microstation design/detailing/drafting is preferred with experience with AutoCAD a plus
  • Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and guidelines, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Understanding of Reinforcing steel calculations and development of Reinforcing Schedules is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Microstation/AutoCAD to develop engineering drawings consisting of standard arrangements, layouts, details, isometrics, etc ., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures
  • Works closely with other Designer/Detailers and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design
  • Applies standard design /detailing/drafting principles and theories to complete assignments
  • Utilizes technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable state (ODOT) standards and codes (e.g. State level Bridge Design Manuals and Standard Drawings)
  • Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings
  • Reads and understands orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings
  • Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor
