Designs mechanical and structural components using SolidWorks or similar CAD software and any other duties as directed from the Product Development and R&D Manager. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of computer systems as they relate to drafting, design, and file maintenance.
  • Knowledge of machining processes
  • Ability to operate within a multi-tasking dynamic team environment
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks certification preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint beneficial
  • Highly computer literate in Microsoft, graphical, and online products

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and technically correct design drawings from verbal instruction, and limited reference material in a fast-paced environment
  • Determine all drawings necessary to document design
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical standards
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2009 or equivalent
  • Produce work according to schedule, with above average accuracy and production
  • Maintain documented history log of changes and revisions
  • Maintain files on network server
  • Works with others to develop documentation and communications
  • Ability to independently manage time and projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High level of initiative
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new tools and technology quickly
  • Able to work under very tight deadlines
  • Occasional travel to customers and suppliers
  • Other duties as assigned by Product Development and R&D Manager or his/her designee
