About The Position

CAD Data Technician Salary Range: $27.00 - $32.00/ Hr. As the largest machine tool builder in the western world, we need world-class talent in all of our departments. Under the direction of the CAD Data Manager, the CAD Data Tech 2 (CDT2) creates, modifies, plots, and files complex CAD drawings and assemblies. When required, the CDT2 works directly with Product Line Design Groups in creating new product drawings and assemblies.

Requirements

  • 2+ years CAD drafting and CAD assembly related experience
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) credential such as general education degree (GED) is required, plus an additional one to three months related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations in English. Must be able to write analytical and/or technical reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and create instructional reference material. Able to speak effectively before groups, customers, employees of the organization and/or the general public.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Must have the ability to apply concepts of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions such as mathematical and/or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Creates complex CAD drawings and assemblies, working from sketches or actual parts.
  • Understands and can employ ANSI 14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Uses company CAD system at an expert level. Utilizes advanced CAD techniques, including, but not limited to: advanced layering, advanced editing, advanced dimensioning, and advanced file importing, exporting, and sharing.
  • Works effectively on all commonly used categories of drawings used by the company. This includes, but is not limited to castings, weldments, machined parts, gears, electro-mechanical devices, sheet metal, purchased items, decals, tooling and documents required for global sourcing.
  • Checks the work of other CAD Data Techs. Can check the accuracy and adequacy of dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and title block data.
  • Creates exploded assembly drawings to company technical publications standards. Creates reference drawings as required for use in sales and promotional literature.
  • Makes corrections to master models and maintain mates and content between configurations
  • Prepare and transmit instructions, templates, models and drawings to outside drafting contractors. Receive completed work, input information for SAP material links and report to engineers when drawings are ready to release.
  • May work as a task leader who can assist and instruct other team members in the performance of new or different task requirements.
  • Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality, etc.
