About The Position

The CAC Family Advocate/Forensic Interviewer (CACFA/FI) is responsible for working with victim advocates, children who have experienced or witnessed abuse, and their caregivers, and conducting forensic interviews under the supervision of the Lead Forensic Interviewer per the NCA accreditation standards. They work with CAC victim advocates to track the progress of the case and the activities and services for the child and their caregivers throughout the life of a case.  They provide forensic interviews of children as directed by the CAC Executive Director.  The CACFA/FI ensures case activity and updates from MDIT partner agencies are tracked and recorded accurately, presents information regarding any interviews they conduct and actively participates in the MDIT investigation and meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field with five years’ experience in working with children and families.  Master’s degree in related field may replace 2 years of experience.
  • Criminal background clearances and a physical examination and TB test are required as condition of initial employment and continued employment.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Ability to communicate and work with diverse families and professionals.
  • Proven ability to function as a team member.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work within prescribed timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel to partner sites.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer applications, spreadsheet, slideshow and word-processing software in a Windows environment and ability to learn and master other computer technology/software as needed
  • Valid Driver’s license
