Pieper Electric/Systems Technologies is seeking Cabling Technicians for the Madison, WI and Milwaukee Metro area. This position is open to candidates of all experience levels, from entry-level to seasoned professionals. The primary responsibility of the Cabling Technician is to ensure a safe job site while adhering to company safety standards. Technicians will supervise the work of additional technicians to ensure high-quality installations and will analyze blueprints to gain knowledge of the job site. The role involves running new cabling and conduit in both new and existing buildings, as well as the termination and testing of fiber optic cabling and other types of cabling. Technicians will also be responsible for terminating voice and data jacks, data cables on patch panels, and building racks to mount equipment such as ladder racks and cable trays. In addition to installation tasks, the Cabling Technician will monitor the progress of work, delivery, and implementation, ensuring that all required paperwork is completed accurately. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of structured cabling and advanced technologies, with experience in deploying, terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable. A solid understanding of low voltage cabling codes is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem-solving. Effective communication skills are crucial, as the technician will interact with customers, permitting authorities, and other employees. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and ideally possess 1-5 years of experience in the communications industry, with supervisory experience preferred. A self-starter attitude is essential, as well as basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. The role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to read and understand floor plans. Physical demands include the ability to bend, lift, twist, turn, and crawl into tight spaces, as well as frequent climbing up and down ladders. BICSI certification is preferred, and candidates must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
