About The Position

We are seeking Data Center Cable Technicians for a large‑scale data center project located in New Albany, Ohio. Technicians will be responsible for installing, terminating, and maintaining copper and fiber cabling within mission‑critical environments. This is a contract‑to‑hire opportunity. The project is expected to run 3–5 years, with strong long‑term potential for technicians who perform well

Requirements

  • Knowledge of telecom hand tools
  • Strong understanding of job safety and PPE requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans and blueprints
  • Understanding of wiring schemes and cable testing standards
  • Ability to pull all types of low‑voltage cabling
  • Proficient in field terminations and labeling
  • Ability to build MDF/IDF closets and dress various cable types
  • Skilled in copper and fiber testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience performing fusion splicing (OSP/ISP, ribbon/single‑strand)
  • Comfort working in active data center environments
  • Capable of running small service jobs and maintaining accurate paperwork
  • Familiarity with LinkWare/LinkWare Live and tester programming
  • Ability to differentiate live cables vs. decom cables
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Walking, standing, bending for extended periods
  • Dexterity for using tools, keyboards, and testing equipment
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; move equipment up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to pull cable and climb ladders

Responsibilities

  • Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure within a data center environment
  • Perform structured cabling tasks including copper and fiber installation, routing, and termination
  • Execute rack and stack of equipment and cabling hardware
  • Maintain data center cleanliness and high workmanship standards
  • Follow all safety protocols, production requirements, and quality standards
  • Provide updates and feedback to project leads and stakeholders
  • Read, comprehend, and interpret blueprints, design documentation, and redline drawings
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve project obstacles
  • Install ladder racks, seismic bracing, and cable pathways both above and below raised floors
  • Dress and furcate fiber trunks for splicing
  • Perform copper and fiber testing using DSX‑5000, OTDR, and related equipment
  • Label and document cabling per Port Maps and project standards
  • Install, connect, troubleshoot, and decommission data center network equipment
  • Conduct service swaps on active networking devices
  • Download, verify, and submit LinkWare test results
  • Perform fusion splicing (single‑strand, ribbon, OSP/ISP)
