A Cable Technician at ITG Communications is responsible for performing in-home fiber and Coax installation and maintenance services. This role encompasses a variety of tasks that involve working with different types of buildings, ranging from large commercial structures and office buildings to private homes. The technician will be engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables, which are essential for high-speed data transmission and communication infrastructure. The position requires a strong understanding of fiber optics and Coax systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during installation or maintenance. The technician will be tasked with resolving, repairing, and installing fiber optics systems, ensuring that they function correctly. This includes splicing Coax cables of various sizes and efficiently handling span replacements, SDU, SMB, and Forced Relocate tasks for both aerial and underground installations. The technician must also examine and replace any faulty or outdated fiber optic cables, rectify problem areas, and inspect worksites to prevent destabilization of fiber optic systems. Keeping track of signal strength for devices such as televisions, telephones, and high-speed internet is also a critical part of the job. Additionally, the technician must be capable of splicing on active devices and maintaining accurate system records and designs. Educating customers about services and assisting them with setting up their own devices is also an important aspect of this role.
