About The Position

The Customer Engineer position at Insight Global is focused on the installation, maintenance, and replacement of Point of Sale (POS) systems and other technological equipment at client locations. This role requires representing the company positively while ensuring high-quality service delivery, including working overnight when necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3+ years of recent cable technician work experience.
  • Experience with cables such as CAT5, CAT6, Ethernet, and Fiberoptics.
  • Low Voltage cabling skills and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Wire fishing skills for running and pulling cable through drywall and flooring.
  • Networking and network testing experience.
  • Proven hardware installation, troubleshooting, and PC maintenance experience.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot basic network configurations.
  • Core competencies in the safe usage of power and hand tools.
  • Experience testing, running, and terminating network keystone jacks, patch panels, and cables.
  • Reliable car or truck and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check including driving record, criminal history, credit check, and drug test.
  • Must own a smartphone.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, and travel.

  • Previous experience with POS systems.
  • Experience working in hospitality environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and replace Point of Sale (POS) systems and other technological equipment on-site.
  • Manage assets used in customer service delivery, including tools, software, and documentation.
  • Maintain parts inventory records and ensure appropriate parts levels are kept.
  • Accurately report calls and activities, including tracking expenses incurred during service delivery.
  • Test, run, and terminate network keystone jacks, patch panels, and cables.
  • Install complex Point of Sale hardware and software solutions as a solo technician, lead technician, or assist technician.
