Cable Splicing Technician Location: Kerrville, TX Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) is seeking a full-time Cable Splicing Technician to join our team. Role Overview As a Cable Splicing Technician , you will play a key role in maintaining and expanding HCTC's telecommunications network.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant telecom or construction experience preferred
  • Specialized skills training/certification may be required
  • Must have a valid Class C Texas driver's license
  • If relocating to Texas from another state or country, must have a valid driver's license equivalent to a Texas Class C and obtain a Texas license within 30 days
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under HCTC's standard auto insurance policy
  • Must have and maintain, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Pole Climbing Certification (or ability to attain within 6 months of hire) required
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week. Occasional after-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Splicing copper and fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Installing copper and fiber terminals on various cable sizes
  • Managing slack and grounding cables in neat splice cases
  • Performing mid-sheath splices and assisting with construction lineman duties
  • Creating and interpreting splicing schematics and diagrams
  • Documenting staking sheets and supporting project timelines through inspections and design
  • Performing assigned cutovers
