We are looking for experienced, innovative and motivated IT Specialists to support enablement CJTF HOA/AFRICOM's mission objectives. CACI has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, Inside/Outside Cable Plant Technician. This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, CJTF-HOA located OCONUS via DJIBOUTI, Africa with supporting duty in Kenya, Africa. This position is required to travel OCONUS. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The Inside/Outside Plant Fiber Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related equipment. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and integrity of our fiber optic network, contributing to the seamless delivery of our services to customers. The candidate will be required to install, splice, terminate, and test copper/fiber optic cables in both enduring and tactical environments. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing copper/fiber optic infrastructure. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and proactively address them to prevent service disruptions. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure accurate implementation of network plans. Utilize various tools and equipment, such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, and cable placement equipment, to carry out tasks effectively. Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, including splicing records, test results, and network diagrams. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Respond to emergency situations, including outages and network failures, to restore services promptly. Assist in the planning and coordination of new fiber optic projects, including route planning, equipment procurement, and resource allocation.
