About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Cabling & Harness Engineer to design, develop, and support electrical harness and cabling systems for GTI’s advanced battery systems and energy storage devices. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of wiring systems — from concept and design to manufacturing support and quality validation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, wire harness design, and cable routing for high-voltage and low-voltage energy applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in cable and harness design for industrial or energy storage applications
  • Strong knowledge of electrical harness design principles, connector selection, and cable routing practices
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
  • Familiarity with high-voltage DC cabling, grounding/bonding methods, and EMI mitigation
  • Working knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 70/79, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills
  • Hands-on experience supporting harness manufacturing or assembly builds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing harnesses for battery systems, EVs, or renewable energy equipment
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred) for BOM and part management
  • Knowledge of mechanical CAD (SolidWorks) for routing harnesses in 3D assemblies
  • Experience supporting harness validation, testing, and failure analysis

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect systems for modular energy storage and battery systems.
  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, pinout charts, and bill of materials using CAD and electrical design software (SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar).
  • Define conductor sizes, insulation types, shielding, connectors, strain reliefs, and protective coverings suitable for harsh industrial environments.
  • Generate complete manufacturing documentation, including harness assembly drawings, work instructions, and routing layouts.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure harness designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Support harness assembly builds on the production floor, resolving issues during first article and pilot runs.
  • Ensure harness designs comply with industry standards (UL 508A, NFPA 70/79, IPC/WHMA-A-620) and customer specifications.
  • Support electrical validation and testing of harness assemblies, including continuity, hipot, and insulation resistance testing.
  • Conduct design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions on harness-related quality issues.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and supply chain teams to integrate harness designs into overall product architecture.
  • Coordinate with vendors on component selection, harness tooling, and supply lead times.
  • Drive improvements in harness design practices, documentation standards, and assembly processes.
  • Evaluate new connector technologies, wire types, and harness manufacturing methods for use in next-generation energy systems.

Benefits

  • Play a critical role in building cutting-edge battery and energy storage systems
  • Join a collaborative and rapidly growing engineering team
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Hands-on, high-impact work in a fast-paced industrial environment
