In this role, the specialist will collaborate with others to perform inspections and minor wood touch-ups, utilizing a keen eye for color-matching. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on craftsmanship, sophisticated problem-solving, and working with high-quality wood surfaces. The position is onsite, and applicants must be located within commuting distance of the Portland, Oregon area or be relocating soon. Applicants must also be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S., as the company is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in woodworking, carpentry, cabinet repair, or furniture restoration is required.
  • A strong understanding of wood types, adhesives, finishes, and advanced repair techniques.
  • Exceptional ability to identify subtle defects and determine the most appropriate restoration methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to match existing wood color using touch-up materials is necessary for this role.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods while maintaining high craftsmanship standards.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.
  • Must be located within commuting distance in the Portland, Oregon area or will be relocating to the area soon.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming wooden components for defects such as cracks, chips, warping, or finish inconsistencies.
  • Execute repairs using industry techniques, including sanding, filling, gluing, and structural clamping.
  • Assemble custom cabinetry components with precision, following detailed drawings, measurements, and shop specifications to ensure high-quality finished products.
  • Seamlessly blend stains, finishes, and textures to ensure a perfect transition with original surfaces.
  • Safely and effectively utilize a range of hand tools (chisels, planes) and power equipment (routers, sanders, saws) to refine parts.
  • Complete and submit detailed inspection reports and collaborate onsite with production and assembly teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory data and records of all repairs and materials used while keeping a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
