About The Position

Out of the Woods Custom Cabinetry in Layton, Utah has been crafting high-quality, custom cabinets since 2001 and we're looking for a hands-on Cabinet Shop Manager to lead our production facility. You'll oversee daily operations, manage a skilled team, maintain quality standards, and ensure orders are completed on time and on budget. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a cabinet manufacturing or installation environment
  • Strong knowledge of cabinet construction, woodworking tools, and production processes
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead teams in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Regularly lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and finger movements
  • Read labels, signs, and technical documents
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and typical workshop/warehouse conditions
  • Wear required PPE including closed-toe shoes and eye/ear protection

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise production operations to meet order deadlines and budgets
  • Optimize the use of labor, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Track productivity, material usage, and cost efficiency
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained; take corrective action as needed
  • Coordinate workflow across departments and partner with sales for seamless production
  • Supervise Lead Personnel and Production Workers, setting clear expectations and performance goals
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement employee development programs
  • Foster positive employee relations and high morale
  • Enforce HR policies, providing coaching or progressive discipline as appropriate
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards throughout the facility
  • Serve on the Safety/OSHA Compliance Committee
  • Oversee facility operations, equipment maintenance, and preventive schedules
  • Lead security initiatives for tools, inventory, and physical assets
  • Prepare operational reports, production data, and budget justifications
  • Track costs, analyze variances, and support capital investment planning
  • Manage inventory, shipping, and receiving processes
  • Develop productivity-based incentive programs
  • Assist in plant budget development and cost tracking
  • Occasionally travel to vendor locations as needed
  • Maintain visibility on the shop floor to assess employee morale and engagement
