About The Position

Responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal development of a group of youth campers on a 24-hour basis. Facilitate an engaging group living experience in an outdoor environment for campers while helping each camper meet the goals established by the camp for camper development. Provide camper supervision within established policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines. Actively plan to teach campers in areas of recreation, environmental studies, and social skills. Responsible for monitoring camper eating habits, health, relationships, and hygiene Alert maintenance personnel of repairs needed to equipment or facility to maintain proper working/operating conditions. Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and staff meetings. Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties. Evaluate current season and make suggestions for future season. Play an active role in all camp activities. Will work stay over weekends as assigned. May work one week as housekeeping/office/kitchen/maintenance crew. Other duties as may be assigned. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants.
  • Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth, and should relate well to all age levels and backgrounds of people.
  • Facilitate community living with youth in a cabin or tent platform.
  • Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
  • Physically fit and able to hike, walk, stand, bend and lift comfortably over the course of a day.
  • Mentally and visually alert to recognize potential hazards and accidents.
  • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer emergency care effectively.
  • Must be 18 years of age on or before August 1 st of the summer season.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen and First Aid Certifications
  • Prior experience with youth or family programming.
