About The Position

CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) who can sit in our Phoenix, AZ offices. Our CAAS practice helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in accounting or related field required
  • 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required
  • Accounting back office experience is required
  • Relevant experience with high net worth individuals, Multiple entity and personal business management is preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required
  • Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems
  • QuickBooks experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
  • Ability to travel to local client sites

Responsibilities

  • Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions
  • Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
  • Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process
  • Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
  • Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers
  • Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
  • Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership
  • Develop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Review payroll and payroll tax compliance
