We are seeking a Platform Engineer II to support the C5I (Command, Control, Communications, Computing, Cyber and Intelligence) product line within the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software Department. The MDS mission is to provide world class radar and Command and Control (C2) software for a wide range of surveillance and warning systems. Platform Engineers design, maintain, and optimize the secure, scalable software infrastructure that enables mission‑critical real‑time systems, including ADOC C5I and other defense programs. As a P2 engineer, you will support platform development, automation, and infrastructure processes under the guidance of senior platform leaders. The ideal candidate has foundational experience in Linux, scripting, containerization, and automation, and is eager to grow within a modern DevSecOps platform environment. This position is located onsite in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience working in Linux environments, performing basic system configuration and administration.
  • Experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting for automation tasks.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, and virtualization environments such as VMware or KVM.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required after start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with network configuration, protocols, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Exposure to C5I, radar, or Command and Control systems.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, IaC concepts, and modern automation tooling with a willingness to grow expertise.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to contribute effectively in fast-paced program environments with time-critical requirements.
  • Interest in continuous learning, cross-team collaboration, and developing creative solutions to technical problems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross‑functional team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of platform components under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Implement platform features, automation scripts, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code components using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python/Bash, and Git‑based workflows.
  • Assist with deployment and maintenance of containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Participate in platform integration and troubleshooting activities focused on well‑defined issues in Linux environments.
  • Contribute to CI/CD workflows (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) by implementing build‑pipeline steps, configuration updates, or automated checks.
  • Assist in maintaining secure platform environments, applying cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
  • Participate in platform reviews, Agile ceremonies, and cross‑team discussions as an active contributor.
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity, and test teams to support platform integration and delivery.
  • Support monitoring, logging, and basic performance analysis for distributed platform components.
