About The Position

The C# Software Engineer will be part of the inReach Explore web team in Yarmouth, Maine, focusing on developing emergency response software that aids in coordinating rescues for various outdoor activities. The role involves working with the latest .NET technologies, testing with Garmin devices, and utilizing modern CI/CD tools in a multi-cloud environment. The team emphasizes collaboration, support, and a fun work atmosphere while contributing to critical software solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, Physics or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience (not including co-ops or internships) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent academics with a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing moderately complex software in C# or Java.
  • Proficient knowledge and mastery of relevant software engineering tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Outstanding academics with a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5.
  • Experience with the latest versions of .NET, ideally with web apps/APIs using Entity Framework and a relational database.
  • Experience with Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure.
  • Javascript or Typescript expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes new functionalities as part of a software project using C#, Knockout, React & Javascript, SQL.
  • Utilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers.
  • Collaborates and participates in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem-solving techniques.
  • Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective actions for given problems.
  • Contributes to technical research on new technologies.
  • Estimates level of effort, evaluates new options of similar technology, and offers suggestions to improve processes.
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced software engineers.
  • Supports working hours as part of a rotating schedule to provide on-call support for Garmin's 24/7 operations.
