About The Position

The Buyer is responsible for implementing and managing corporate procurement decisions to meet financial goals and strengthen the company's competitive position. This role enhances profitability and service levels by coordinating, benchmarking, leveraging, and creating cross‑company synergies while providing expertise across all aspects of the business. The Buyer reviews material requirements, evaluates supplier quotations, and issues Purchase Orders to the suppliers best suited to meet the company’s needs at the optimal lowest cost for the assigned product set.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of broad-based and strategic business experience.
  • Knowledge of best-demonstrated practices in procurement strategies and tactics, including the use of web-based and other technology applications.
  • Knowledge of the market and the ability to implement solid strategies.
  • High level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated excellence in problem solving and follow up necessary to resolve problems.
  • Working knowledge of Procurement, Inventory, AP, and other modules within the Infinium system
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills to resolve Procurement, receiving, shipping issues within Supply Chain.
  • Strong ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly motivated and seasoned individual.
  • Strong PC skills including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Energetic, positive, confident, extremely motivated, proven ability to multitask, excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, proven self-starter, ability to work independently.

  • Experience gained within a procurement function in the communications industry.

Responsibilities

  • Handle inquiries and purchase orders for the Procurement group, including data input, review requisitions for completeness, issue inquiries to qualified vendors and coordinate technical reviews.
  • Negotiate the appropriate consolidated company-wide agreements that deliver substantial increased value to our business.
  • Issue e-mails, memoranda, faxes, reports, compilations, agendas, minutes and compose and type letters.
  • Maintain an awareness of best practices and initiate the implementation of appropriate changes.
  • Perform work related to special projects and/or assignments as required.
  • Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
