QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an accredited college or university required. A minimum of three (3) years buying experience in food service purchasing. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public education with an emphasis on food service procurement. A working knowledge of specification writing, bidding practices, and state procurement laws. Effective use of organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Demonstrate written and oral proficiency in the use of the English language. Proficiency in computerized data entry, including MS-Excel, MS-Word, Adobe, Ionwave or other computer-based purchasing programs, and Primero Edge or other nutrition services software. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Annual Contract: 250 days SALARY: $60,208 (BA 3) Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in the management of all procurement functions for the Nutrition Services Department. Become familiar with all phases of the purchasing department including District purchasing policies and procedures; Order and delivery procedures of the Nutrition Services Department; Accounting procedures Prepare and tabulate all bids assigned using Ionwave purchasing software. Facilitate communication between the Nutrition Services Department and vendors. Develop specifications that comply with USDA requirements for the NSLP and SBP. Assist with formal and informal bids, and small purchases (quotations), and evaluate to determine the best value to the district. Manage all bids ensuring the awarded items and pricing is being followed per bid conditions. Keep all bids up to date and issue renewals when required. Configure all items needed in Primero Edge software and keep all pricing current. Knowledge of food service products, services, and USDA food programs including commodity processing of USDA foods. Monitors USDA commodities with appropriate reports. Coordinate and execute the Annual Food Show event with community members. Prepare MSDS Handbook and distribute it as needed. Researches and applies applicable local, state, and federal procurement regulations, policies, and procedures. Support the Nutrition Services Department with regular and reliable attendance. Works independently with minimal instruction and is a proactive team member. Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Director and Assistant Director of Purchasing. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Sitting/Standing for prolonged periods of time; walking; carrying; pushing/pulling and lifting over 60 pounds. Frequent contact with companies, vendors, and district/ campus employees.
