Our team in Space & Defense Group, Fluid Controls Business Unit is looking for an intelligent, engaged, and personable candidate to join us as a Buyer. You will report to the Process Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY. Here's what you'll be working on day to day:

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area and 1 year of experience working within a supply chain or operational role in manufacturing or similar environment OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supply chain or operational role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes including PO placement
  • This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Program Management
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR requirements
  • APICS or other industry standard certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Place and expedite purchase orders; monitoring PO status and delivery dates
  • Drive supplier engagement, RFQs, pricing analysis, and PO placement with precision and urgency
  • Provide reliable completion and delivery dates to internal stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with all functions to ensure conforming Source of Supply (this includes quality, design, cost, and timing issues.)
  • Communicate supply issues that may pose a risk or impact on business targets or customer expectations
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduction of costs including new or alternate sources
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
  • Creation of Sole Source Justification and Price Analysis documents in support of Government DFAR regulations
  • Responsible for effective communication within and outside of supply chain function, including escalations to leadership
  • Ability to handle and assess multiple competing priorities
  • Coordinate and support supplier non-conformance and return to vendor (RTV) actions
  • Participating in cross-functional problem-solving initiatives to remove supply constraints
