About The Position

We are continuing to grow, and are looking for a Buyer to join our team. The Buyer will work under direction and supervision from the Purchasing Manager for all purchasing activities for parts and services for assigned commodities. The Buyer will assist in all processes for MRP output from the ERP system. This encompasses quoting, processing purchase orders, executing reschedule messages, resolving receiving and invoice issues. This position will work with Supplier Quality to ensure parts meet quality and reliability requirements and may help identify new Suppliers and participate in cost reduction programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associates degree (A.A.S.) required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 4+ years purchasing experience required. Relevant internship experience may also be considered.
  • Must possess a high level of organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to communicate and negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Must be able to communicate across all levels of Clever Devices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment is imperative.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a complete manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc) and have the ability to learn new software programs such as Microsoft Dynamics AX

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of electronics components (PCBs, semiconductors, connectors, passive/active components, cables, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret: BOMs (Bills of Materials) Engineering drawings Technical specifications
  • Familiarity with component lifecycles (e.g., end‑of‑life notifications, obsolescence risk).
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes such as SMT assembly, testing, and quality requirements.
  • Experience sourcing from global suppliers, especially in Asia and North America.
  • Strong negotiation skills for: Pricing Contracts Payment terms Volume agreements
  • Ability to manage long lead-time components (semiconductors, custom parts).
  • Knowledge of forecasting and demand planning.
  • Supplier evaluation skills (cost, quality, delivery performance).
  • Ability to analyze cost drivers (materials, freight, tariffs, MOQs).
  • Experience with total cost of ownership (TCO) and landed cost models.
  • Tracking and reporting PPV (purchase price variance).
  • Expertise negotiating cost downs and long-term agreements.
  • Ability to maintain strong communication with contract manufacturers, distributors, OEMs, and brokers.
  • Risk mitigation, including backup suppliers and dual sourcing.
  • Develop and work with yearly Purchase Agreements and producing monthly releases.
  • Holding monthly forecast meeting with assigned suppliers.
