About The Position

As a Buyer at Bunzl Distribution, you will play a key role in strategically replenishing inventory across our Southwest regional warehouses. In this dynamic position, you’ll manage a queue of purchasing activities that may be organized by category, market, region, vendor, or customer. You will oversee the full procurement lifecycle—from identifying demand to final disposition—while serving as a primary liaison between Bunzl and our suppliers. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with both domestic and international vendors, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment. This is a M-F, 8am-5pm role, working in our Dallas, TX or in our San Antonio, TX office. Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent required
2+ years of purchasing experience preferred
Analytical skills with the ability to use Microsoft Excel to drive decisions and communicate key performance trends.
Understand the basics of negotiations and can pursue a predefined result.
Ability to respond to multiple needs and priorities through open, professional communication
Familiarity with ERP systems and/or basic ordering principles.
Experience in one of the following: demand planning, purchasing, freight, or warehousing.
Experience with e-mail such as Outlook and other Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred
International/Import buying experience preferred
AS400 experience a plus

Responsibilities

Communicate with global manufacturers and suppliers regarding orders, inventory and delivery timelines.
Support supply through product selection, development, and sourcing.
Monitor pricing, terms and KPIs with manufacturers and suppliers.
Monitor inventory levels/inventory control among multiple warehouses and ensure maximum efficiency of warehouse space.
Be a strong team member with peers and other key internal stakeholders, including purchasing, operations, warehouse, finance and sales.
Deliver the on the KPI/metrics and objectives, ensuring that all actions are in sync with plan defined by local leadership.
Metrics may include, but are not limited to: Buyer productivity – volume, value, turns, and overstock.
Adherence to category management guidelines or demand plans that ensure preferred vendor relationships and products are core to every buying decision.
Inventory balance granular to ordering characteristics and aged profile.
Maintain vender relationships including service level and On Time and In Full (OTIF).
Identification and capture of opportunities for one-time PBIT improvements.
Direct and routinely negotiate will all levels of supplier contacts including key challenges in price, availability, lead time, and freight.
