About The Position

The position involves managing healthcare materials and supplies, ensuring that the hospital has the necessary resources to operate efficiently. The role requires effective communication and negotiation skills to interact with vendors and manage procurement processes. The individual will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels, conducting physical inventories, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies regarding purchasing and vendor interactions. The job also includes consulting with the Director of Supply Chain and assisting with capital expenditures and equipment repairs.

Requirements

• Minimum two years experience in healthcare materials management field.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Working knowledge of processes for cost analysis and pro-forma on proposed procurements.
• Knowledge of capital and operational budget processes.
• Ability to exercise discretion in vendor interactions and maintain a professional image.
• Ability to work under stress during emergent needs.
• Ability to make quick decisions and react to problems affecting cash flow and inventory levels.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work without supervision.

Nice To Haves

• College level course in business or marketing.
• Working knowledge of computerized spreadsheet utilization.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the Director and keep them informed of activities, particularly regarding needs and problems.
• Research and negotiate terms and conditions of purchase, place orders, and coordinate dialogue between end users and vendors regarding training and implementation.
• Research and recommend products based on quality, price, and serviceability standards.
• Expedite vendor backorders and ensure adequate supply of stocked items to meet departmental quality improvement programs.
• Process equipment repairs and adjustments, and manage documentation for damages and incorrect shipments.
• Issue purchase orders in accordance with hospital policy.
• Negotiate and administer contracts on behalf of Sky Lakes Medical Center under the direction of the Director of Supply Chain.
• Act as a resource for hospital personnel regarding products and procurement practices.
• Interface with vendors regarding products and services, scheduling appointments as necessary.
• Participate in conducting annual physical inventories and spot inventories to ensure accurate inventory levels.
