About The Position

The position involves essential duties and responsibilities focused on quality, cost, delivery, service, and technology. The role requires identifying potential suppliers, requesting quotes for new and existing products and services, analyzing market trends, and recommending product substitutions. The candidate will create and develop sourcing strategies, negotiate competitive prices, and manage purchase orders while reviewing related invoices. Additionally, the role includes managing Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, bulk-buy programs, and stocking programs, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and promoting positive supply chain partnerships. The candidate will work cross-functionally to identify solutions, complete continuous improvement projects, and monitor inventory levels to maintain appropriate stock levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain management required
  • Proven experience in purchasing, materials management, or supply chain role
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing role preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing industry preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems
  • Knowledge of cost reduction analysis
  • MRP systems knowledge
  • VMI systems knowledge
  • Overall general knowledge of the manufacturing processes required in the manufacturing of steel structures and structural insulated panels

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential suppliers and request quotes for new and existing products and services
  • Analyze market trends and recommend product substitutions
  • Create and develop sourcing strategies
  • Negotiate competitive prices and favorable terms and conditions
  • Create and manage purchase orders and review related invoices
  • Complete quarterly planning parameter reviews
  • Create and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, bulk-buy programs, and stocking programs
  • Closely manage and expedite incoming material to ensure on-time delivery and outgoing movement of materials
  • Promote positive supply chain partnerships
  • Work cross-functionally to learn and proactively identify solutions
  • Complete continuous improvement projects/initiatives
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels and inventory dollars to ensure appropriate stock levels
  • Manage material rework and material returns within supply base
  • Perform other related duties as required
