About The Position

The Buyer position at Southern Nuclear is responsible for procurement activities that support category management strategies and business partner requirements. This role involves sourcing suppliers, issuing requests for quotes, analyzing bids, creating purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and resolving any supply chain issues that may arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or Supply Chain preferred.
• CPM certification is a plus.
• Experience in procurement of materials and off-site services preferred.
• Maximo experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing and supply chain practices and standards.
• Knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code.
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiating skills.
• Ability to handle multiple transactions under time constraints.
• General knowledge of business practices associated with procurement.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of generation and nuclear procedures.
• Familiarity with warehouse equipment and materials.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerBi, and databases.

Responsibilities

• Locate sources of supply and issue requests for quotes.
• Conduct bidder meetings and analyze bids.
• Create purchase orders for services and materials.
• Negotiate with suppliers and expedite orders as necessary.
• Resolve supplier problems and discrepancies involving pricing and invoicing.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
• Work closely with inventory specialists, site supply chain managers, and engineering teams to accommodate supply chain requirements.
• Develop and evaluate proposals for materials and off-site services.
