The Buyer/Planner, as part of Supply Chain team, will be responsible for ensuring the materials and components needed for production are delivered on time and in the right quantities. You’ll gain a deep understanding of how our supply chain and manufacturing processes work, while becoming a go-to expert on specific products or materials. In this role, you’ll help plan inventory, manage product updates, solve supply challenges, and work closely with suppliers to keep everything running smoothly. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager. This role is onsite in Menomonee Falls, WI

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of work experience in Supply Chain Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical data required.
  • Experience using Business Analytic tools.
  • 1+ years’ experience with purchasing, scheduling incoming deliveries or tracking part shortages.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders, requisitions, and long-term agreements to ensure timely delivery of materials that support production schedules.
  • Partner with vendors to streamline routine transactions whenever possible.
  • Manage returns of defective materials and coordinate with suppliers to quickly resolve issues and secure replacements.
  • Maintain accurate data in the ERP system (Epicor), including planning and replenishment settings, to support efficient materials planning and exception-based management.
  • Analyze supply and demand trends to determine optimal inventory levels and replenishment strategies that support on-time delivery and reduce lead times.
  • Review and act on MRP recommendations, schedule incoming deliveries, track part shortages, and use tools like Power BI to stay ahead of supply constraints.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments to keep teams informed of delivery timelines, material availability, and lead time updates—especially for production and new product launches.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and on-time delivery. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to supply chain improvement initiatives, including supplier-managed inventory programs, collaborative forecasting, and lean materials planning.
  • Actively participate in and lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives by working with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, quality, and sourcing—to identify inefficiencies, drive process enhancements, and support a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by management.
