About The Position

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for procuring electronic components and ensuring the availability of materials necessary for production while optimizing inventory levels and controlling costs. This role involves production planning, supplier account management for PCBAs, and inventory data upkeep, requiring strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of buying and planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous electronic component purchasing experience, preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing and terms from electronic component suppliers.
  • High attention to detail and quality of work, completing work with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and effectively deal with tight deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and computer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP system: Microsoft Great Plains, preferred.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain or related studies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for electronic components, including integrated circuits, capacitors, resistors, connectors, and other relevant parts.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers of electronic components, negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to understand technical specifications and requirements for electronic components.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to determine optimal ordering quantities and timings.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments affecting electronic component availability, pricing, and lead times.
  • Manage relationships with electronic component suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic components into production processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of electronic component procurement activities, pricing, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation in electronic component procurement and inventory management.
