About The Position

The Buyer Planner - Tooling position at Stanley Black and Decker is primarily responsible for planning and purchasing aerospace materials and tooling. This includes managing procurement processes, establishing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while maintaining quality standards. The role requires effective communication and analytical skills to address complex problems and optimize inventory levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years of procurement planning experience, with at least 1 year in manufacturing.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Resource Planning (MRP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, look-ups, pivot tables).

Nice To Haves

  • Query capability in Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and purchase aerospace materials and tooling including sheet, plate, bar, rod, wire, and machine parts.
  • Place purchase orders in MRP for production with approved suppliers.
  • Establish strong relationships with key suppliers through regular meetings and communications.
  • Issue requests for quotations to suppliers for competitive bids and updated pricing.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve price reductions and maintain records of cost reduction achievements.
  • Manage supplier on-time delivery and prepare performance reports on delivery, cost, and quality.
  • Review open order status and incorporate MRP changes as they occur.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and monitor planning parameters.
  • Notify suppliers and production planners of all changes in MRP messages weekly.
  • Work with receiving and quality assurance departments to resolve POs on suspense for documentation and quality discrepancies.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction, savings, and avoidance, and implement strategies to meet company objectives.
