Location: 5 Commerce Boulevard, Plainville, MA Work Hours: M-F 8am-4pm Discover Impactful Work: Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Buyer/Planner III, where you'll contribute to maintaining efficient supply chain operations. You'll be responsible for planning and procuring materials to support manufacturing and customer demands. Working with cross-functional teams, you'll ensure timely material availability while adhering to quality standards and cost objectives. This role offers opportunities to implement improvement initiatives and develop strategic supplier relationships. A Day in the Life: Manage suppliers/vendors performance. Serve as senior escalation point for supplier quality and delivery issues. Partner with R&D, Engineering, MSAT, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain. Identify and escalate any supply chain bottlenecks in a timely manner. Collaborate with corporate procurement to monitor supply risks, develop mitigation plans (dual sourcing, safety time, buffers), and execute contingency actions. Lead procurement KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts. Provide coaching, training, and mentoring for junior level members. Generate and expedite/de-expedite purchases order (POs); resolve discrepancies (price, quantity, invoices); ensure on-time delivery to plan. Ensure all required documentation is provided with purchases (COA, COC, TSE/BSE, etc.). Purchase Info Record Maintenance: Maintain vendor–material combinations with current pricing, units of measure, lead times, incoterms, pack sizes, and minimum order quantities. Ensure conditions, source list determination and lead time parameters are updated. Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and weekly material assessments for assigned client programs. Support material readiness meetings to track and assess material readiness changes or delays to schedule. Independently coordinate with procurement/buyers and quality teams to ensure materials availability aligns with site long-range production forecast. Collaborate with production schedulers and material handlers to ensure on-time material delivery. Use SAP system to assess material inventory, review purchase requisitions and purchase orders, and perform routine material movement transactions.
