About The Position

The Buyer /Production Planner is a site-level execution role primarily responsible for production planning and schedule execution, with secondary responsibility for buying support. This role translates released demand and Master Production Schedule (MPS) outputs into detailed production plans and material requirements, ensuring schedule adherence and material availability. The role does not own demand forecasting or SIOP, but works downstream from those processes to execute manufacturing plans in a regulated environment.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years experience in production planning or materials planning within manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Buying or purchasing experience supporting manufacturing operations
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, aerospace, or similar)
  • Understanding of finite scheduling and shop floor execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or coursework

Responsibilities

  • Convert released MPS and work order demand into executable production schedules
  • Sequence and prioritize work orders in coordination with Operations and Scheduling
  • Monitor schedule adherence and escalate risks to Supply Chain and Operations leadership
  • Run MRP to identify material constraints impacting production plans
  • Maintain planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, run rates) as defined by Supply Chain leadership
  • Translate production plans into material requirements and purchasing signals
  • Create and manage purchase orders for assigned commodities or suppliers
  • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm deliveries and expedite when required
  • Resolve material shortages and supply issues impacting the production schedule
  • Maintain accurate material, supplier, and lead time data in the ERP system
  • Monitor inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and expediting
  • Support cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and discrepancy resolution
  • Coordinate material substitutions or alternates with Engineering and Quality when required
  • Support disposition and follow-up of nonconforming or constrained materials
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and internal quality system requirements
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing to resolve execution issues
  • Maintain accurate planning and purchasing documentation per procedures
  • All other duties as assigned.
