About The Position

The Buyer Planner I is responsible for planning the detailed daily production for assigned product lines and commodities under direct supervision. This role involves monitoring component requirements, developing production schedules, and ensuring that supply meets demand. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and APICS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills in JDEdwards, MS Office, and MS Project.
  • Supply chain management experience with the ability to match supply and demand for assigned products and commodities.
  • Familiarity with commodity management strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills to resolve scheduling and sourcing conflicts within timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees.

Responsibilities

  • Review the weekly production build rates as established by the Manager.
  • Review open customer orders daily.
  • Develop pro-active production schedules derived from target finished goods inventory levels and the current build plan.
  • Prepare detailed component schedules for assigned product lines.
  • Interface directly with suppliers to ensure that supply matches demand.
  • Enter Production Purchase Orders in a timely manner.
  • Monitor delivery status and expedite orders when necessary, utilizing IQR and MRP messages.
  • Resolve component quality issues and material rejections and replacements as required.
  • Interface directly with Customer Service to ensure the coverage of open orders.
  • Monitor and communicate backorder status with Customer Service, Production, and the Planning Manager.
  • Meet with internal customers on a weekly basis to ensure an excellent level of service.
  • Work closely with the Project Buyer and the Project Engineer to successfully launch new products on time and at budget.
  • Identify profit improvement opportunities in Production Planning and recommend programs to improve overall production efficiencies.
  • Review monthly production budgets for assigned product lines and prepare monthly summary reports.
  • Work with Inventory Control to monitor and fix inventory discrepancies.
