The Role As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. You will be expected to actively participate in the development of a commodity strategy, executing sourcing and negotiations, contribute to global material budget execution, and collaboration with suppliers and internal partners. Work requires a demonstrated ability to function collaboratively, display initiative, an ability to assess options via analysis as well as a capability to exercise independent judgment and recommend plans of action for the larger commodity team. GM’s Industrialization M&E Automation Purchasing team is looking for a Material Automation Buyer that will be responsible for the purchasing of material automation equipment including Automated Mobile Robots (AMR), Software and Integration services. A successful candidate is highly engaged, passionate about new automation technologies, familiar with purchasing processes and values cross-functional collaboration. In addition, comfortable working in ambiguity and thinking outside the box to meet the demands of the growing automation market.
