About The Position

Responsible for executing and supporting project quoting and buying activities related to customer bids and orders within technical Lighting and Energy Product Categories. Collaborates with internal team members and external suppliers to source, cost, procure and track materials needed to complete and win projects. The key objective of this position is to understand cost drivers of projects; provide competitive costing/pricing of materials; facilitate orders; monitor deliveries for projects while ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction; resulting in the generation of profit for the organization and repeat business from the customer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3+ years experience directly involved in lighting and/or energy technical product scoping and procurement
  • Experience building relationships and influencing various levels of internal and external decision-makers.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data and balancing customer needs and competing timelines in a changing environment.
  • Experience assisting in the negotiation of agreements and knowledge of contract fundamentals.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with SAP R/3 for quoting and order placement.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Lighting & Energy technical product category and buying expertise to ensure quality of the solution and project profitability to support Customer project solutions.
  • Reviews Project Bill of Materials (BOMs) and documents; consults with team members regarding defined customer requirements and expected performance standards; researches alternatives, when needed.
  • Utilize various Grainger systems and solicits cost support from vendors, when necessary to determine the lowest possible cost of the materials.
  • Creates and submits accurate and thorough Project Proposals against tight deadlines established by customers and internal partners.
  • Reviews customer’s awarded Project BOM; checks stocking levels and item status; divides BOM to achieve the best possible cost/lead time; enters customer order(s) into Grainger systems.
  • Works with manufacturers directly to obtain promised ship dates; establishes the best possible delivery date. Carries out follow-up activities, such as monitoring delivery dates, resolving shipping problems, and expediting late deliveries.
  • Works cross functionally with Grainger teams or directly with the customer to respond to inquiries and complaints; investigate order/pricing discrepancies; review backorder situations; arrange for credit, return or exchange as appropriate; mediate disputes that may arise between parties.
  • Subject matter expert in Grainger’s designated service offerings and service providers. Participation on district meetings and internal & eternal events to effectively position the service portfolio.
