About The Position

Symbotic is seeking a motivated Buyer (Indirect) within our Supply Chain organization who is efficient and detail oriented. The ideal applicant brings analytical experience, is a strong communicator, and has robust organizational skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing best practices and a history of supply base optimization in automation, warehouse distribution and or service parts organization. The ideal candidate will be available to work in a hybrid environment with a minimum of 3 days a week in our Wilmington, MA headquarters. Our global Sourcing and Procurement team develops innovative category management strategies in collaboration with the business. The team focuses on strategic third-party partner agreements and helps support supplier relationship management, commercial, and financial pricing models for overall supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Procurement.
  • Minimum 3 years of detailed experience with MRP systems, SAP preferred for PR/PO generation.
  • Experience with Indirect spend categories, especially corporate IT software and hardware/infrastructure, with knowledge of the related supply base.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are preferred.
  • Comfortable working quickly in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase Indirect spend goods and services across the Symbotic system; partnering with internal stakeholders (e.g. Corporate goods and services, supporting the IT, Engineering, HR, Marketing, and Finance departments) to ensure we are procuring against accelerated timeline and lead time needs, accurate demand, up-to-date specifications, and delivering value for our internal stakeholders.
  • Process a high volume of POs daily while maintaining compliance.
  • Resolve urgent escalations (e.g., expedited shipping for unexpected needs, critical software outages due to lapsed payment) with composure.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve purchasing issues related to quality, scheduling, and pricing disputes.
  • Develop close relationships with key suppliers within indirect spend, driving cost savings initiatives and accurate and timely fulfillment.
  • Partner with Planning to ensure our Procurement strategy is in line with our Planning needs.
  • Analyze data for cost-saving opportunities through vendor consolidation, contract negotiations, and strategic supplier selection, with a focus on cost initiatives.
  • Utilize SAP and planning tools to analyze inventory, order patterns, and sales data for strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure internal and external service levels are met.
  • Lead bid package development, manage RFx processes, and financial analysis to further cost reduction strategies and fulfill internal stakeholder requests.
