About The Position

Join a dynamic team as a Buyer responsible for managing purchasing decks within the Service Parts for a leading automotive service division. You will engage in post-production activities with a focus on indirect or direct services, negotiating contracts, and managing programs. This role involves heavy project-based work and market testing to secure the best value for the company.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of recent experience in purchasing and buying commodities within the automotive industry.
  • Strong program management background.
  • Proven experience in packaging negotiations and driving cost savings.
  • Experience with SAP and intermediate Excel knowledge
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree completed.
  • Strong negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing of goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Support the purchasing function and communicate any supply problems that may impact business operations.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments for purchasing processes and new projects.
  • Monitor and advise on issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
  • Analyze costs, review cost reduction activities, and monitor market trends and competitor strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers, and seek opportunities for business savings.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships and ensure effective communication.
  • Conduct research for new components and suppliers and compile data for supplier performance evaluation.
  • Resolve supplier shortages, past-due situations, and any issues with price, quality, delivery, or invoices.
  • Update and maintain commodity strategies and work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates.
  • Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
  • Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
  • Review open vehicles off-road (VOR) and backorders on a weekly basis to expedite parts delivery.
