About The Position

This Buyer II role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As a Buyer II, you will be part of a dedicated team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, responsible for developing strategic procurement solutions and executing day-to-day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems. You will contribute to all aspects of supply chain operations, driving organizational and policy changes to enhance Blue Origin’s profitability. The Buyer II ensures program requirements are prioritized and met, demonstrating competence in Blue Origin Supply Chain compliance standards, strategies, and initiatives. The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote, performing cost analysis for proposals, and developing/leading formal negotiations. The Buyer II is skilled in constructing various contract types for major procurement activities, including long-range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identifying efficiency enhancements. This position involves owning the entire procurement process, from requisition creation to final invoice payment, and resolving any issues within this process. You will lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (e.g., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) when mutually beneficial. The role supports the overall procurement organization’s strategic direction, ensuring corporate objectives are met, such as on-time delivery of production materials, within budget, and adherence to technical performance requirements. Key attributes for success include influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis, and problem-solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related industry experience
  • Interprets and applies company, policies, procedures, work instructions, business standards and U.S. government regulations, i.e., FAR, DFAR, SOX Compliance
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives of the supply chain department
  • Maintain compliant and accurate files and data records
  • Strong analytical skills, data driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics
  • Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations
  • Must have top notch people and communication skills
  • Working understanding of AS9100 standards
  • Knowledge of Engineering Data such as specifications & source control drawings
  • An eagerness to identify opportunities, find solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results critically and expediently
  • Highly analytical and critical thinker
  • Maintains passion for solving problems from end-to-end
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic procurement solutions and complete day to day tactical purchasing functions for various spaceflight systems
  • Share in the team’s impact on all aspects of supply chain operations, driving organizational and policy change to enhance Blue Origin’s bottom-line
  • Ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to meet the needs of Blue Origin
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/ Requests for Quote
  • Perform cost analysis in support of proposals
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal negotiations
  • Construct various contract types for major procurement activities to meet the requirements of the programs and needs of the business to include long range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, continuous improvement initiatives, and identification of opportunities for enhanced efficiencies
  • Take ownership of the procurement process from requisition creation through to final payment of invoices and are accountable to resolve issues within this process
  • Lead the identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (i.e., Long-Term Agreements (LTAs)) where mutually beneficial
  • Support the overall procurement organization’s strategic direction and ensure corporate strategic objectives are achieved to include: on time delivery of production materials, within budget, and meet technical performance requirements
