About The Position

The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and tracking materials, parts, and equipment required for Forterra’s production and field operations. This role partners closely with engineering, warehouse, and finance teams to ensure procurement activities are timely, cost-effective, and aligned with program needs. The Buyer plays a key role in managing supplier relationships and inventory availability in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment.

Requirements

  • 5-9 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in a manufacturing or hardware environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and prioritize in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting
  • Exceptional customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in NetSuite.
  • Experience reviewing bill of materials

Responsibilities

  • Assists engineers in selection and procurement efforts
  • Issues purchase orders for production and prototype materials, tools, and equipment based on program forecasts and requisitions
  • Tracks order status and proactively resolve delays or issues with vendors
  • Maintains accurate purchasing records and supports financial reporting
  • Identifies opportunities for reducing the total costs of products on programs
  • Coordinates with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure timely material receipt and reconciliation
  • Assists and drive supplier selection and onboarding processes
  • Seeks direction on purchasing strategies to be employed
  • Ensure all open purchase orders are up to date in NetSuite, with the latest Receive By Date and an additional notes about the status of the purchase order
