About The Position

The Biodesix Buyer is responsible for performing purchasing activities to ensure timely receipt of assigned material. The job involves dealing with suppliers, manufacturing, and planning departments to acquire inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner. Responsibilities include processing purchase requisitions, issuing purchase orders, change orders, and requests for quotes to suppliers, and following up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy required; Proficient with MS Office a must
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to read and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and monitor several projects simultaneously

  • 5+ years' experience of material purchasing in a manufacturing/medical environment desired.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials to meet forecasted demand in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Constantly monitor inventory levels to keep the inventory as low as possible while meeting the forecast and operational objectives.
  • Work closely with suppliers to resolve issues related to pricing, delivery, and quality in a timely manner.
  • Timely and accurate entry of purchasing orders.
  • Work closely with planning and Lab Operations to understand the constant changes of both forecast and performance to be able to adjust orders to meet all the needs.
  • Communicate projections for key materials yearly and review with vendors.
  • Monitor offsite consigned inventory to ensure required levels meet Biodesix needs. Set guidelines for their inventory levels.
  • Maintain an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders.
  • Source and obtain written quotes from vendors as required for new items by utilizing specifications supplied by maintenance and operating departments.
  • Assist with cost estimates and special projects as needed.
  • Develop and provide materials reports to management.
  • Work with the inventory management team to ensure all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products. Source alternative products for interim shortages.
  • Work with finance to ensure the coding of inventory and purchase products are correct.
  • Assist in reconciling PO's and invoices with accounts payable.
  • Assist independent auditors in auditing PO's or other purchasing records.
  • Create and update quality-related documentation.
  • Assist inventory team with regular cycle counts of Louisville inventory.
